Cecil Family Theme: 2016

Our family theme has been framed and sitting in our home since the beginning of the year. However, I have been a major slacker and am just getting around to blogging about it. This year, we decided that in our family we were going to always try and think positive. Things can get tough sometimes but there is always light at the end of a tunnel. We have found that when we think negative, we are down and not very happy inside. When we think happy thoughts though, even very hard things can turn positive. Eric and I have been working on this and are so happy when doing so. When we keep trying, believe in ourselves, are happy, and don't get discouraged, things DO work out and everything is just fine. There is a happy thought for your day!

Quote Board!

My sister did all the work and found all of these cute quotes! She printed them off and put them around her house. I had her send them to me and I printed them out and did the same. This board is hanging in my laundry room. Whenever I go in there, (which is often with the amount of laundry that I have), I am reminded how wonderful life is. Despite the challenges, there truly is so much to be grateful for and without the gospel, life would be even harder. I am also loving the hand outs that my visiting teachers bring me to hang up on my board and the pictures of my sisters. I tell everyone how much I just love this board!

Four Month Update- Harper

@madisonscecil

How old?
4 months! Can't even believe it!

Size?
We went to the doctor for Harper's 4 month well child check and shots and she is 14 pounds and 6 ounces. She is measuring almost 25 inches long.

Sleeping?
Still in Mommy and Daddy's bed…We are soaking it in. I keep thinking to myself that she isn't going to want to sleep with us forever.

Eating?
She is still exclusively breastfeeding and LOVING it!

Size of Clothes?
Depending on the brand but, she is in mostly 3-6 month clothes.

Harper Likes:
- Bath Time! She cries when we take her out. I may have a swimmer!
- Talking super loud! We love it!
- Snuggling with mama and dada!
- Watching Baby Einstein.

Harper Dislikes:
- Taking Naps.. She sleeps best in the car.
- Playing by herself. Mama plays with her all the time.

We Love You Sweet Harper!! photo Signature-1.png

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was always a very fun day in my house growing up. Eric and I wanted to make it a fun day in our house as well so we decided to carry on some of the traditions that we were used to. We celebrated a day early this year since Valentine's Day was on a Sunday. We started the day with heart shaped waffles. My parent's gave us a heart shape waffle maker so we made the waffles pink and they were so yummy. I did this growing up and Eric and I are excited to do this in our home. Harper then followed the trail of hearts that we had set up for her to her presents. We celebrated the rest of the day going shopping and to dinner as a family. Sunday we went to church. Harper turned 4 months on February 14th so we bought her a Valentine's Day dress to wear to church that day. We are loving establishing traditions in our little family.

Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and Visit from Pop

Last weekend, it was 75° so Eric and I put on our shorts, got Harper her sunglasses, and we headed to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. We went with some friends and it was so much fun to get out and enjoy the nice weather. Eric and I miss the seasons but this warm weather in January and February is pretty nice. Harper is so cute in her new shades!

@madisonscecil

My dad ("Pop") came down to Fort Worth on business this past weekend and it was so much fun to hang out with him. He was here for 2 nights and he loved being able to see Harper splash in the bath and playing with her. We even went to the Stockyards and Pop spoiled Harper. He bought her this book that she just LOVES. We are so thankful that work brings him to Texas often.

Rolling Over!!

Harper has been working on rolling over since she was about a month and a half. She would always get on her side but then she couldn't get her leg over and roll over her arm. Well, yesterday she did it and she hasn't stopped. It is the cutest thing ever and Eric and I are loving it. We are just having to watch her super close now. Here is a video with her new trick! She is always so proud of herself once she gets over.
Once she gets on her belly, she lifts her head up and gives us the biggest smile and the sweetest face. Now we are working on teaching her how to roll back. She doesn't like to stay on her belly for long so once she gets over, she will cry until we roll her back. It is a little game we are playing right now with her. We are glad she is loving her new trick and is learning that she has control of this body of hers.
